PA6 (Polyamide 6)

PA6 exhibits relatively high mechanical strength and good toughness, together with excellent wear resistance and self‑lubricity. Its melting point ranges from 215 °C to 220 °C. It offers a wide processing‑temperature window and is easy to mold. Compared with PA66, PA6 delivers superior impact resistance and solvent resistance, yet it has higher water absorption. This feature causes dimensional variation and fluctuation of partial mechanical properties of finished products as ambient humidity changes.

Main Applications

Fiber products: the largest consumption field, accounting for about 70% of total demand. Widely used for textiles such as undergarments, stockings and sportswear; industrial yarn including tire cord fabrics and air‑bag fabrics; as well as carpet yarns.

Engineering‑plastic applications: benefiting from favorable mechanical performance, PA6 is manufactured into various industrial components, for example wear‑resistant transmission parts like bearings, gears and pulleys. In the automotive industry, it is adopted for engine hood covers, intake manifolds, fuel hoses and other parts to achieve lightweight by metal replacement.

Films & packaging: PA6 can be used to produce biaxially oriented polyamide film (BOPA). With outstanding barrier property and puncture resistance, such films are mainly applied as packaging materials for food and medical supplies.
